How Long Can Water Last

Question by bug: How long can water last in a water jug on the water cooler? It is from the tap-city water not delivered?
I just bought a water cooler but opted not to have water delivered. The water jug I am using has a removable lid. I pour filtered water in the top from the tap. Then, I place the lid back on. The jug does not have a seal. Will this water go bad? I refill it about every two days. The water in the tubes in the cooler is probably okay but what about the water that sits in the jug? Thanks

It should be fine. I’ve run water systems and we have swimming pool sized cisterns. You may want add 1 tsp bleach per gallon of water to sit overnight to avoid getting algae about once a month. Rinse it before using again of course. It takes very little bleach to sanitize the water. If your water is chlorinated I wouldn’t worry about it at all.
